Dr. Alan Tomkins


Dr. Alan Tomkins with Scout
Dr. Tomkins graduated from Washington State University (BVSc 1991, DVM 1992). He practiced small animal medicine, dentistry, and surgery for nearly 15 years in Vancouver, Washington before following his heart to San Francisco and joining Animal Hospital of Diamond Heights. His special interests in practice include internal medicine, geriatrics, and a holistic approach to nutrition including supplements and herbs.

In his spare time, Dr. Tomkins enjoys spending time with friends, cooking, reading, learning the electric bass, lifting weights, meditating, and exploring San Francisco and surrounding areas. He is involved with local and national veterinary associations, the Episcopal Church, and volunteer work. He shares his home with a 23 year old cockatoo, Lily, who has been with him for 14 years.
